Update: Photos here
Day One
Attended the awards ceremony. Awards were given to contributors to Mozilla firefox and subversion. Immediately afterwards was the fantastically funny talk by Larry Wall on The State of the Onion – basically drawing absolutely hilarious parallels between family (as in a group of related homo sapiens) and programming languages. And of course the current state of Perl 6 development which some people had accused of being vaporware.
Day Two
Chris DiBona talked about the Google summer of code (GSOC). Interesting statistics – a student from Eastern Europe on the GSOC started a company based on the stipend given! Also – hardly any of the female part of our species applied for the GSOC.
